How to apply

In order to qualify for council housing you need to have a connection to a particular local authority – you gain this connection by living or working in that area for a number of years. Some local authorities do not accept employment as a method of developing a local connection – only residency.

To Qualify for social housing with the City of London you must be living or working within the City for at least 16 hours per week for at least 24 months. There are certain other restrictions which would not allow someone to apply: the household cannot earn more than £60,000, cannot own or own a share in property in the UK or abroad and cannot have savings over £30,000.

If you wish to apply for the City of London Housing Register you should contact the Housing Needs Team on [email protected]. You will need to complete an application form and provide a variety of supporting documents which are detailed on the form.
